#D1 Aslan is on the Move, Aslan is Turkish for LION
My Golden Retriever Aslan is the one who got me out on the trails everyday of the year for ten years. As a result I have now led thousands of people, often with their dogs, out into the Indiana Dunes and over fifty other park locations. Thank you Aslan!
Below are some other dogs who live in the Duneland area or visit the Indiana Dunes who have had a positive effect on so many others. If you want your dog to be a part of this growing directory, please email their photo and a little bit about them to IndianaDunesHiking@Gmail.Com with a Subject: Doggone Dunes, "Your dog name".

MR BONES was the official mascot of Indiana Dunes Hiking. Tiffany Yorek brought him on every hike she could, whether it was at 6:30 AM for the Wolfe Pack hike or for a Night at the Museum, late addition, starting at 8:00 PM CST.
He passed away unexpectedly. We are heart broken. This photo was taken at one of his last hikes at the beach of Mt. Baldy.
Mr. Bones was so special that Tiffany brought him to my house to meet my wife. NO other dog, in 27 years of living in Chesterton, was brought for a visit to my house. And I know a LOT of dogs. An interesting fact is that only 4 human hikers have ever been brought to my house so Mr. Bones is in RARIFIEd AIR!
Tiffany's sister wrote this beautiful poem:
I lost my dearest friend this week,
soft-hearted soul, so brave, so meek.
We spent our summer by the lake,
where every ripple seemed to wake
a joy in him no words could speak.
He moved through life with gentle grace,
sunlight dancing on his face.
He’s crossed the bridge where warm winds blow,
yet in my heart he wanders slow.
My sweetest boy, forever near—
your tender pawprints linger here.
Written from the heart by April Yorek

If you see Tiffany on a hike with us show her some love.

Renee rescued her. She was found with her littermates in an abandoned field in Michigan city with her deceased mother. They were hours old. It was 9/11/2024.
